The Kaiila Isanna Band, is a fictional group, based on the books of Gor, but it is our desire to keep as much of the real traditions of the people alive in our cultural understanding, for whom the fictional group were created after. While the Lakota are a Matrilineal Society, in the Kaiila Isanna world a counter world of Gor, which is supposed to be a counter Earth, there will be some modifications based on that....The woman is the lodge holder, and provider of its care and all the occupants in it, but the man will make up his lodge in preparation for the maiden that will live in it, as he may have an inahan before, ownership or the ability to seek out a mate will be based on his ability to provide for any and all that will live under its roof.
The woman will give freely to all that come to her lodge, for our group we have two central lodges Main council lodge...the lodge of Hota which is always open for learning, the story hides are kept there and the elders are there to teach, and the living lodge, the place for cooking, more relaxed care, basic healing etc. Your lodges have all been provided with all that you will need, we hope that you learn to build, create and explore making your own clothing, items for your family etc...we will provide your first clothing after that you should get ideas etc, to make your own, we did class this fall on moccasin and boot making, we would like to do more of those in the future. Wakinyan makes beautiful pieces she is someone good to talk to, Heca, Hota, and many of the women including myself, all create.

The following Video teachings and the slide show will give the full teaching based on what I believe to be the most accurate account of traditional life based on a man who lived on the very edge of its destruction.....They are tremendous videos and one of them has been placed in the section in our website on children.
The above video is a broad overview of the culture as seen by Luther Standing Eagle, who lived in the last of the fully traditional life before the push onto the reservations. From the Tipi, to the way of the people on war, to the reasoning behind elders etc....there will be some shifts to appeal only to the Gorean Counter culture..which by the way...in the fictional story, wins against the priest kings....see if you can see a connection;)
The rights of people within the culture, and how those were played out, the importance of care for multiple generations, generosity, etc. Please note that within the Gorean Subculture that an inahan, does not bear the same rights or status of a free member, but then how do the Kaiila care for that which is in their possession, one only has to look at the care of the Kaiila, the land and the Kaiiluk to understand that fully.
Courtship and the rituals of love...awwwww..the fair young maiden. In all things the Lakota were a modest people as too are the Kaiila, the isicola women were to be greatly respected....this is the way of it......and there is beauty in this, for if we do not respect that which gives life, how can life respect that which will take from it and draw from its font? The love of an inahan, however is a more secreted thing for it may make a man seem weak, but this too, then if a man does not fear, he can openly if he chooses show that love however he sees fit, within accordance of the respect of the free women present.
The Free Woman, the Wiyan Isicola, is a woman of renowned skill for she carries the weight of the people on the generations that she will bear. Matrilineal in nature, the Wiyan does not however have the final word, this is due in part to the understanding of ones jobs. Also, because of the fact that this is for the Kaiila Isanna and not the Lakota, is this still based on some very strong ideals of men and women and an elder will still decide on the fate of a wiyan under his care, be it father, brother, uncle etc....
